This property is located on the Hope Peninsula in a game preserve next to Sam Owen State Park where wildlife abounds. The park is just above Drifting Hollow (as we call the property). Just walk across the road to the park's hiking trails which all have stunning views of the lake. The Hope Peninsula is where the first North Idaho settlement was established in the early 1800's and where early Indian tribes came in summer for war games at Denton's Slough. Everywhere you look are deer, turkey and bald eagles. Occasionally a moose wanders onto the peninsula as well.
Drifting Hollow is located in a very nice, quiet community on the Peninsula. There are now some year round residents now but even in the summer months there are no crowds. Sandpoint is only 20 minutes away but groceries, c-stores, restaurants, hardware stores and even movie rentals are all within 5 minutes. So, if you prefer, you don't even have to go into town. Try out our views which are absolutely unsurpassed; or just walk down the concrete steps next to the dock directly into the lake and take a swim. No one can visit this area of the country and not be amazed at the breathtaking beauty.
From Sandpoint, ID follow US Highway 95 then merge onto Idaho Highway 200 (at stop light north of town go straight) and drive around the north side of Lake Pend d' Oreille for 18 miles. Once you pass through East Hope (0.8 miles past Hope Marine) you turn right onto Peninsula Road toward Sam Owen State Park. At "Y" (intersection with Red Fir), go right onto Red Fir about 50 yards and then turn right onto Cedar Lane. At "T" intersection on Cedar Lane turn right again and go to the 2nd drive on the left just past power line. The cottage sits down the hill on your left directly on the lake.
